Pliteq GenieClip RST Acoustic Isolation Clip

Pliteq GenieClip RST is a high-performance acoustic isolation clip used to decouple plasterboard linings from walls and ceilings. It helps reduce vibration transfer through the structure by separating the new plasterboard layer from the existing wall or ceiling framework.

GenieClip RST is commonly used in soundproofing systems where better isolation is required than standard direct-fixed plasterboard or basic resilient bar systems. It is designed for use with compatible furring channels to create a resilient frame, allowing acoustic plasterboard or soundproofing boards to be fixed to the channel rather than directly to the structure.

This makes GenieClip RST suitable for wall and ceiling soundproofing projects in homes, flats, studios, offices, commercial spaces and refurbishment work where airborne noise reduction is required.

How It Works

Sound can travel through a structure as vibration. When plasterboard is fixed directly to timber, masonry, concrete or metal framing, vibration can pass more easily from the structure into the new lining.

GenieClip RST helps reduce this by creating a resilient break between the structure and the plasterboard layer. The clip supports the furring channel, and the plasterboard is then fixed to the channel rather than directly to the wall or ceiling. This separation helps reduce vibration transfer and improves the performance of the overall soundproofing build-up.

Installation Notes

Fix GenieClip RST to the wall or ceiling structure using suitable fixings for the substrate. Once the clips are installed, compatible furring channel is fitted into the clips to form the support framework for the plasterboard layers.

Clip spacing, channel spacing, board layers and fixing type should be chosen according to the project specification and system design. Do not overtighten fixings, as this can reduce acoustic performance. Avoid rigid contact between the plasterboard lining and surrounding walls, floors or ceilings.

For best results, use GenieClip RST as part of a complete soundproofing system with acoustic mineral wool, acoustic plasterboard, acoustic sealant and correct perimeter detailing.

Important Information

GenieClip RST is not a complete soundproofing solution on its own. Final acoustic performance depends on the full system, including the existing structure, board layers, insulation, furring channel, sealing, installation quality and any flanking noise paths.
