Soundlay Plus 15mm Acoustic Underlay
15mm Acoustic Floor Underlay for Impact and Airborne Noise Reduction
Soundlay Plus 15mm Acoustic Underlay is a dense acoustic floor mat designed to reduce impact noise and help improve airborne sound insulation through floor structures.
Each sheet measures 1200mm x 1200mm x 15mm and covers 1.44m². The product is suitable for timber and concrete floor applications where footfall noise, vibration transfer and sound movement through floors need to be reduced.
Soundlay Plus 15mm uses a laminated acoustic construction, combining dense acoustic barrier layers with a resilient foam core. This helps control impact noise while also adding mass to support airborne sound reduction through the floor build-up.
It is commonly used in flats, houses, offices, refurbishment projects and floor soundproofing upgrades. It can be used below carpet and may also be suitable below laminate, vinyl or timber flooring when installed with the correct supporting layer and full floor system specification.
For best results, Soundlay Plus 15mm should be installed as part of a complete acoustic floor treatment. Perimeter isolation, tight joints, correct floor finish detailing and flanking noise control are important. Do not rely on the matting alone to solve all sound transfer issues.

Acoustic Performance
Soundlay Plus 15mm can help reduce impact noise and improve airborne sound performance when installed as part of a suitable tested floor and ceiling construction.
Published acoustic figures should only be treated as system performance, not standalone product performance. Actual results will depend on the full floor build-up, ceiling construction, floor finish, workmanship and flanking noise control.
Installation Notes
Install Soundlay Plus 15mm over a clean, dry and level floor surface. Sheets should be laid tightly together with butt joints and no gaps between boards.
Use suitable perimeter isolation around walls, skirting lines, door thresholds, pipe penetrations and fixed structures. Rigid contact points can create flanking paths and reduce acoustic performance.
For carpet installations, isolate carpet grippers from the structural floor where required. For laminate, vinyl or engineered timber finishes, check whether a suitable timber board layer is required above the acoustic mat before installing the final floor finish.
Do not mechanically fix through the acoustic layer unless the full system specification allows it. Fixings through the resilient layer can create rigid bridges and reduce soundproofing performance.
FAQ
What is Soundlay Plus 15mm used for?
Soundlay Plus 15mm is used to reduce impact noise and help improve airborne sound insulation through floor constructions.
What size is each sheet?
Each sheet measures 1200mm x 1200mm x 15mm and covers 1.44m².
How heavy is each sheet?
Each sheet weighs approximately 23kg, equal to around 16.1kg/m².
Can it be used under carpet?
Yes. It can be used below carpet. Carpet grippers should be isolated where required to avoid rigid contact points.
Can it be used under laminate or engineered wood?
Yes, but only with the correct supporting layer or floor system. Do not assume laminate or engineered timber can be laid directly on top without checking the build-up.
Is this the same as Hushlay 15?
No. It is a similar type of 15mm acoustic matting product, but it should be kept separate from Hushlay 15 unless your supplier confirms they are the same product.
Does it meet Part E?
It can help a floor system meet acoustic requirements, but it should not be sold as a standalone Part E guarantee. Performance depends on the complete floor and ceiling construction, installation quality and flanking noise control.
