Resilient Acoustic Joist Cap 2m
Acoustic Joist Cap 45-60mm x 2m
The Acoustic Joist Cap 45-60mm x 2m is a resilient U-shaped foam profile designed to fit over the top of timber joists before chipboard, floor boards or acoustic flooring panels are installed. It helps create a separation layer between the joist and the floor deck, reducing direct contact and helping limit vibration transfer through the floor structure.
This joist cap is useful in timber floor soundproofing projects where a simple direct-to-joist isolation detail is required. The U-profile grips over suitable timber joists and can be cut to length on site, making it easy to install during refurbishment, new floor build-ups and acoustic floor upgrades.
Use as part of a complete acoustic floor system with acoustic mineral wool between joists, suitable floor boards or acoustic overlay boards, perimeter isolation strips, acoustic sealant and correct edge detailing.

Installation Notes
Place the joist cap directly over the top of suitable timber joists before installing the floor layer above. The U-profile should sit securely over the joist, creating a resilient layer between the joist and the floor deck.
Cut lengths as required using a sharp knife. Flooring boards should then be installed in accordance with the project specification and board manufacturer’s guidance.
For best results, use acoustic mineral wool between the joists and install a suitable perimeter isolation strip around the edges of the room. The floating floor layer should not make rigid contact with surrounding walls, skirting boards or structural elements, as this can create flanking sound paths.
Important Information
This product is an isolation accessory and should not be treated as a complete soundproofing system on its own. Final acoustic performance depends on the full floor build-up, including joist condition, ceiling treatment below, floor board type, perimeter isolation, sealing, workmanship and any flanking noise paths.
