Quietstone Cem-Rock 12mm Cement Board 2400 x 1200mm – A1 Fire Rated Acoustic Building Board
Dense, durable cement board for acoustic, fire-rated and wet-area construction
Quietstone Cem-Rock is a 12mm cement fibre building board designed for demanding internal and external applications where strength, moisture resistance, fire performance and added mass matter. Its dense 2400 x 1200mm format makes it particularly useful within soundproofing wall and ceiling build-ups, while its A1 non-combustible classification and water resistance open up applications that standard plasterboard cannot cover.
Important acoustic point: Cem-Rock is a dense building board used to add mass and create a robust lining. It is not an acoustic absorber like Quietstone Light. For serious soundproofing, we normally recommend using it as part of a complete system with cavity insulation, sealing and – where required – acoustic isolation.
Why choose Cem-Rock?
- 2400 x 1200 x 12mm board
- A1 non-combustible reaction-to-fire classification to EN 13501-1
- Dense construction: approximately 11.6kg/m² and 950kg/m³
- Suitable for internal and external applications
- Water resistant and dimensionally stable in wet conditions
- Passes freeze/thaw, soak/dry and heat/rain testing
- Suitable for humid environments including swimming pools, saunas and wet rooms
- Can be painted, rendered, tiled or left in its natural grey finish
- Strong but workable – can be scored/cut on site
- Flexible enough for curved work, with a published bending radius of approximately 2m
Soundproofing applications
For airborne-noise control, mass is one of the core elements of a good wall or ceiling. Cem-Rock can be used as a dense lining layer in suitable acoustic constructions, especially where moisture, durability or fire performance also matters.
Typical Soundproofing King build-ups may combine Cem-Rock with Rockwool RWA45 acoustic mineral wool, Rockwool RW3, acoustic membranes / MLV, isolation clips and channels and acoustic sealant.
Where Cem-Rock can be used
- Soundproof wall and ceiling systems
- Internal partition walls and dry lining
- Wet rooms, bathrooms, swimming pools and saunas
- Tile-backer applications
- Soffits and ceilings
- External façades and sheathing
- Fireplaces and chimney breasts
- Boiler rooms and fire-rated partitions
- Factories, workshops and commercial buildings
- Curved surfaces

Soundproofing King advice
Do not choose a board from one headline dB figure alone. Actual noise reduction depends on the complete tested wall or ceiling construction, including framing, cavities, fixings, joints and flanking paths. If you send us the wall/ceiling type, dimensions and the noise you are trying to reduce, we can help specify the rest of the build-up.
