Using the correct supporting products is important. Rigid contact at the perimeter, unsealed gaps, poor board jointing, missing insulation or untreated flanking paths can reduce the performance of the full system.
Installation Notes
The existing floor structure should be dry, level, stable and suitable before installation. Any loose boards, raised fixings, damaged sections, large gaps or service penetrations should be dealt with before the battens are installed.
Install the battens in accordance with the project specification and manufacturer guidance. The floating floor deck should be installed over the battens using suitable board joint adhesive where required.
A suitable acoustic flanking band or perimeter isolation strip should be fitted around the room edges so the floating floor deck does not make rigid contact with surrounding walls, skirting boards, pipework or structural elements.
Avoid creating rigid bridges through the acoustic layer unless the system specifically requires it. Gaps, edges and service penetrations should be sealed carefully with acoustic sealant.
