5mm Acoustic Resilient Layer for Screed Floor Sound Insulation

Regupol Sonus Core 5, formerly known as Regupol 7210C, is a 5mm acoustic resilient layer designed for use below screed floor systems. It helps isolate the screed from the main structure of the building, reducing the transfer of impact sound from footfall, movement and general floor vibration.

Each sheet measures 2250mm x 1150mm x 5mm and covers approximately 2.59m². It is commonly used in apartments, student accommodation, hotels, residential developments and commercial projects where floor sound insulation is required.

Regupol Sonus Core 5 is manufactured from recycled rubber material and is suitable for projects where Pre-Completion Testing is preferred over a Robust Detail route. It is designed for long-term performance beneath screed, with resistance to ageing, deformation and compression under load.

For best results, this product should be installed as part of a complete acoustic floor build-up, with correct joint treatment, edge detailing and control of flanking sound paths.

Installation notes

Regupol Sonus Core 5 should be laid over a clean, dry and level structural floor. Sheets should be installed closely together with the correct overlap or joint treatment, following the project specification and manufacturer guidance.

At perimeter edges, the material should be turned up or detailed correctly so the screed is isolated from surrounding walls and structural elements. This helps reduce flanking noise and prevents the screed from creating a rigid sound bridge.

Use suitable acoustic tape where required. Do not puncture or mechanically fix through the resilient layer unless the full system specification allows it.

FAQ

What is Regupol Sonus Core 5 used for?
Regupol Sonus Core 5 is used below screed floors to reduce impact sound and vibration transfer through the floor structure.

Is Regupol Sonus Core 5 the same as Regupol 7210C?
Yes. Regupol 7210C has been rebranded as Regupol Sonus Core 5.

How big is each sheet?
Each sheet measures 2250mm x 1150mm x 5mm and covers approximately 2.59m².

Can it be used under screed?
Yes. This product is mainly used as an acoustic resilient layer below screed systems.

Does it reduce airborne noise as well as impact noise?
It is primarily used for impact noise reduction, but it can contribute to airborne sound performance when installed as part of a tested acoustic floor construction.
